The simplicity of the square image began capturing my attention long before camera phone apps like Hipstamatic and Instagram made it simple. National Geographic Magazine published square images throughout my early childhood subscription days when the exploration and photographic seeds were planted. Today, square images represent simplicity and remind me of early childhood experiences with my first camera (a Polaroid Instamatic) in the Pennsylvania woods near where I was raised.
